Pop Mart THE MONSTERS (Labubu)

The line that turned blind boxes into a global craze. Labubu, the toothy, mischievous creature from artist Kasing Lung's THE MONSTERS universe, is sold mainly as vinyl-plush pendants and figures, and Pop Mart's Canadian online store lists blind boxes in CAD, mostly between about $25 and $40. The downside of fame: drops sell out fast, resale prices spike, and counterfeits (nicknamed Lafufus) are everywhere.

Sonny Angel

The small, wide-eyed cherub figures from Japan's Dreams Inc., each wearing a different headpiece: fruit, animals, flowers, seasonal themes. They are about the size of a thumb, cheap enough to collect a series, and series include a rare secret figure. Collectors love perching them on monitors and car dashboards. The low price and steady release schedule make it the friendliest entry into blind boxes.

Pop Mart SKULLPANDA

The darker, more sculptural Pop Mart line from artist Xiongmao. Figures are elaborate and themed by series, often with special finishes, and they display better on a shelf than most blind-box figures. Prices on the Canadian Pop Mart store sit in the same blind-box range as THE MONSTERS. Less mainstream frenzy means retail purchases are easier.

Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts

The original retail treasure hunt, and still the best value chase in collecting. Hidden in ordinary mainline Hot Wheels cases are Treasure Hunts and the rarer Super Treasure Hunts, which have Spectraflame paint, Real Riders rubber tires and a small TH logo. They cost the same as any mainline car at the till. Finding one at a Canadian grocery or big-box store is pure luck and patience.

Pop Mart CRYBABY

Artist Molly Lorenzo's tearful characters are about embracing emotion, and the line has grown fast with figures and vinyl-plush pendants in soft, pastel themes. It is easier to find at retail than THE MONSTERS and has a strong fan base among adult collectors. Collaborations with outside brands appear regularly. Counterfeits exist, so stick to authorised sellers.

Funko Pop!

The most widely sold vinyl figure in Canada, covering almost every franchise you can name. Pops are not blind-boxed (except mystery lines), so you buy exactly the character you want, and chase variants with different finishes are packed randomly. The downside is overproduction: most Pops never gain value, and the line is about fandom display rather than artistry.
