Canada's major outdoor Christmas markets for the 2026 season. Every market here has published 2026 dates on its own site or its official tourism board page, and we checked each one. We ranked on scale, setting, how long the market runs and how easy it is to visit (free entry versus timed tickets). It's for anyone planning a holiday weekend, at home or on a short trip. Markets that hadn't confirmed 2026 dates when we checked are left out for now.

Distillery Winter Village (Toronto)

The former Toronto Christmas Market fills the cobbled lanes of the Distillery Historic District from Thursday Nov 12, 2026 to Sunday Jan 3, 2027 (closed Christmas Day). That is the longest run on this list. The set pieces are a redesigned centrepiece tree, Santa's Village at Soulpepper Theatre, fireplaces and vendor cabins of Canadian makers. Entry is free before 4 p.m. and all day Monday to Wednesday through Dec 13. Evenings and weekends need a ticket.

German Christmas Market of Quebec City (Marché de Noël allemand)

Old Quebec might be the most naturally Christmas-like setting in the country, and this market makes full use of it. Stalls are spread across six sites: Place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville and its gardens, Place d'Armes, Rue Sainte-Anne, Place D'Youville and the courtyard behind Holy Trinity Cathedral. It runs Nov 19 to Dec 23, 2026, Thursday to Sunday, plus Dec 21 to 23. Entry is free. Plan your trip around those Thursday-to-Sunday days.

Vancouver Christmas Market (Jack Poole Plaza)

This German-style market on the waterfront at Jack Poole Plaza runs Monday Nov 16 to Thursday Dec 24, 2026. The organizers call this year their biggest expansion yet. It adds German Village facades at the entrance, a Wishing Forest where you hang a wooden ornament, a hidden-window cocktail hut and a Fire Pit Lounge. Entry is by timed ticket, and a season pass covers unlimited visits with skip-the-line entry.

Spruce Meadows International Christmas Market (Calgary)

This market takes over the Spruce Meadows show-jumping grounds in southwest Calgary over four weekends: Nov 13-15, 20-22 and 27-29, plus a newly added Dec 4-6 weekend in 2026. Tourism Calgary describes hundreds of artisans and speciality vendors in European-inspired stalls, with lights, music and mulled wine. Because it only runs on weekends, it works best as one big shopping day rather than a market you drop into on a weeknight.

Christkindl Market (Kitchener)

Kitchener's German-heritage market at City Hall marks its 30th anniversary in 2026 and expands to 10 days, running Dec 3 to 13. The city runs it around City Hall, with the Rotunda and the outdoor rink, an eat-drink-and-shop area, live entertainment and Kidskindl activities for children. It's compact. If you live in southwestern Ontario, it's the obvious pick. Most others won't build a trip around it.

Village de Noël de Montréal (Atwater Market)

Set up beside the Atwater Market near Lionel-Groulx metro, Montreal's Christmas Village runs Nov 26 to Dec 24, 2026. Entry is free. The market leans on local creations and regional food products, and adds children's entertainment, workshops, concerts, tastings and illuminations, plus free photos with Santa on weekends. Pair it with the Atwater Market halls and the Lachine Canal for an easy afternoon.

Evergreen Festival and Evergreen Market (Halifax)

Halifax's holiday festival runs four weeks, Nov 27 to Dec 20, 2026. Its Evergreen Market of open-air wooden chalets on the waterfront sells local food, drink, apparel and gifts. Around it are a walkable light trail, a free hop-on, hop-off Evergreen Express train, a beer garden with firepits and live music, and free winter sports games. Light installations reach into Downtown Dartmouth. It's more of a festival than a dedicated market, so come for the whole waterfront.
