Bell's service is the Canadian home of HBO and Max originals (The Last of Us, The White Lotus, House of the Dragon) under a multi-year deal extended in October 2024, plus Warner films and series, Canadian originals and a strong French catalogue. October 2026 coverage put Standard With Ads at $11.99 a month and Premium ad-free at $22. If you only pay for one premium service in Canada, this is the one the U.S. cannot replicate.

Netflix

Still the broadest single catalogue, with films, global series and a deep Canadian-shot back catalogue. Canadian prices have held since the January 2025 increase, and Netflix told MobileSyrup in March 2026 that the U.S. hike was not coming here: $7.99 with ads, $18.99 Standard and $23.99 Premium. The jump from the ad tier to Standard is the steepest among the majors.

CBC Gem

The public broadcaster's service is free with an account and carries CBC series, a large Canadian documentary catalogue, live CBC events and many licensed British and international dramas. An optional Premium tier removes ads; a July 2026 subscription-tracker listing put it at $6.99 a month, but we did not find an official CBC price page to confirm it.

ICI TOU.TV

Radio-Canada's French-language service, free with ads, with the paid Extra tier adding exclusives, early episodes and ad-free viewing. For Quebec series, from current dramas to archive classics, it is the essential app. A third-party aggregator listed Extra at $7.99 a month in 2026; confirm on the Radio-Canada site before subscribing.

Apple TV

Apple dropped the plus sign in 2025 but kept the strategy: a smaller catalogue made almost entirely of polished originals like Severance, Slow Horses and Ted Lasso, with no ads. Canada is $14.99 a month after the August 2025 increase; an iPhone in Canada report from August 2026 noted the U.S. had just gone up again and Canada had not yet followed.

Disney+

In Canada, Disney+ carries Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic plus the adult Star catalogue, which is where FX series like The Bear and Shogun live here (Canada has no Hulu). An August 2026 Canadian guide listed three tiers: $8.99 with ads, $15.99 Standard and $16.99 Premium. We could not find an official Disney price page to confirm.

Prime Video

Included with Amazon Prime, which most Canadian households already pay for shipping. Since February 2024 it has shown ads in Canada, with an ad-free add-on that launched at $2.99 a month. The library is broad but uneven; the originals (The Boys, Reacher) are the draw. Rentals and paid channels sit on top and can blur what is included.

Kanopy

If your public library subscribes, Kanopy is free: Criterion titles, world cinema, documentaries, The Great Courses and a kids section, with no ads. Toronto Public Library has offered it since 2018. Libraries set a monthly limit on how many titles you can play, and not every Canadian library system carries it.

The Criterion Channel

Available in the U.S. and Canada, it streams curated collections, director retrospectives and a deep classic catalogue, with supplements from the Criterion Collection discs. List price is in U.S. dollars: US$10.99 monthly or US$99.99 a year, so the Canadian cost moves with the exchange rate. The annual plan is the better deal.

NFB.ca

The National Film Board's own site and app stream a large share of its catalogue free: animation, documentaries and shorts going back decades, in English and French. Some features are sale-only; Mon oncle Antoine and Stories We Tell, for example, are digital purchases rather than free streams. The animation shorts alone are worth an evening.

Tubi

Fox's free ad-supported service works in Canada with a large on-demand film and TV library plus live FAST channels (it launched more than 40 Canadian channels in 2023). Quality varies wildly, from cult genre gems to forgettable filler. The price is right, and the search and recommendations are better than you would expect.

Paramount+

The home of the Star Trek catalogue and Paramount's film library, plus Taylor Sheridan series such as Landman and Tulsa King. Paramount said its early-2026 U.S. increase would be mirrored in Canada but we could not find confirmed Canadian figures, so check the price at checkout. Best as a subscribe-for-a-season service rather than a permanent one.
